Higher Education & Workforce Training

We work harder and smarter.
Hard work is nothing new in Stanly County, North Carolina and the Charlotte region. For generations, our workers have believed in the value of a job well done and loyalty to employers. As a right-to-work area, there’s a healthy appreciation for the importance of free enterprise, too.

We offer employers a skilled workforce—and just as important, an educated workforce eager to acquire new skills. Our state was a pioneer in the development of customized job training, and our area public schools and postsecondary institutions continue that spirit by focusing on preparing local youths and the adult workforce for tomorrow’s jobs. For example, Stanly Community College works with local employers to develop training specific to their needs. That benefits the employers, it benefits the college, and it strengthens the local economy by keeping our residents employed productively.

Stanly County, North Carolina residents and employers benefit from two post secondary educational institutions that are located in our community. In addition to providing educational opportunities to local residents, they partner with employers to deliver customized training to provide or enhance workplace skills. Continuing education and small business center programs are available, too.

Stanly Community College offers Associates Degrees and diploma programs, along with a Corporate & Professional Education Center that provides programs designed specifically for local employers.

Pfeiffer University offers undergraduate degrees in 29 different majors in a variety of fields, including the arts, sciences, computers, math, and business administration. The University also offers several graduate degree and lifelong learning programs.
